Line-interactive systems are the most developed technology of off-line UPS’s. Those systems provide automatic voltage regulation (AVR) by continuously monitoring mains voltage for +/-10% deviation limits. Line-interactive systems rank between off-line and on-line UPS’s from the price versus performance point of view. Most important characteristics is AVR that avoids unnecessary connection to the batteries in case of “brownout” thus contributing longer battery life. Battery connection is provided in cases where mains is beyond permitted levels and where AVR is not possible. In general, vaveforms are similar to sinusoidal. Only SMART series UPS’s have sinusoidal waveforms. Power GUARD line-interactive UPS equipment have the world’s widest AVR interval of +/- 25%. 25% tolerance in mains is regulated in two successive stages: First regulation is done in case of +/-10% deviation and the second regulation is done in case of further 10% deviation in mains value. We also provide free of charge RUPS II software for remote connection over RS232.
On-line UPS provides the most developed protection at highest level thanks to AC/ DC and DC/ AC double conversion technology and sinusoidal waveform at the output. Mains AC is first converted to DC and then DC is converted to AC to feed the load connected to UPS output. As noted, UPS output is fed by the DC circuits all the time regardless of mains. In cases where mains value is within limits, AC/ DC conversion charges the batteries keeping the batteries fully charged all the time and it also feeds the inverter for DC/ AC conversion. In cases where mains is out of limits AC/ DC conversion ceases and DC/ AC conversion continues using the batteries. Under such operation there is no mains cut off or resumption conditions. This is “fully uninterruptible”. Besides most developed design and technology, Power GUARDon-line UPS equipment have mains input interval of 220 VAC +/-20% that is most consistent with the conditions in Turkey.
